Work Conditions
- The job requires the use of a tablet/laptop
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record is required
- Required Safety Tickets: H2S, First Aid, Ground Disturbance, BSO, CSTS ’09.
- Work will take place out on job sites in various locations. Work will be done on rotating shifts.
- Will work directly with Coater and remainder of crew
- Work will be done in various climate conditions. Physically demanding role including bending and heavy lifting.
- Living out allowance is provided
Duties/Responsibilities
- Sandblast Pipe as needed.
- Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to designated areas
- Clean and prepare skids and material for painting
- Prepare components to be protected from abrasives.
- Operate and maintain sandblasting equipment
- Troubleshoot equipment failure
- Conform to quality control standards and construction specifications, drawings, sketches, layout boards etc. and/or verbal instructions.
- Read, understand, and follow working instructions/directions, policies, and procedures.
- Report status of jobs in progress and upcoming production plans when required
- Perform daily maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
- Inspect final product, ensuring conformance to specifications
- Ensure housekeeping is completed in daily assigned area.
- Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities
- Assist in aligning pipes and perform related activities during oil and gas pipeline construction
- Level earth to fine grade specifications using rake and shovel
- Assist in demolishing buildings using prying bars and other tools, and sort, clean and pile salvaged materials
- Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment
- Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators and tampers as directed
- Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction such as mixers, compressors and pumps
- Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants, and remove asbestos and other hazardous materialsDirect traffic at or near construction sites
- Comply with standards and procedures of the health and safety program within Occupational Health and Safety regulations
- Comply with all WHMIS and environmental regulations regarding the storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 2 years' experience sandblasting and/or painting in an industrial capacity.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Knowledge of abrasive blasting techniques and equipment.
- Understanding of surface preparation standards.
- Ability to read work instructions and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Good physical fitness and manual dexterity
- Awareness of workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations.
