About the role
Reporting to the Senior Director, Integrated Planning, the selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing inventory management activities across multiple food production and storage sites. The role aims to ensure the availability, accuracy, freshness, and profitability of raw materials, packaging, work-in-progress, and finished goods, while meeting food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements.
The individual will lead a team and work closely with production planning, receiving and warehouse management, supply chain, quality, finance, and site operations teams to support service levels, reduce waste, and optimize working capital.

Key activities
Inventory Control:
Define, align, and deploy inventory management standards, policies, and controls across all sites.
Ensure the collection and sharing of inventory level data (raw materials, packaging, WIP, finished goods).
Plan, supervise, and participate in physical inventories and cycle counts; analyze variances and identify root causes.
Provide sales teams with visibility on inventory at risk of obsolescence.
Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, traceability, and regulatory requirements (e.g., lot tracking, FIFO/FEFO, expiration dates).
Collaborate with teams to reduce losses, waste, recalls, and non-conformities.
Identify and implement initiatives to improve inventory turnover and optimize working capital.
Contribute to system improvements and the use of ERP, WMS, and inventory management tools.
Team Management:
Lead, engage, and develop the inventory management team.
Set clear objectives and monitor and evaluate performance.
Ensure effective workload distribution, adequate coverage, and skills development.
Analysis and Reporting:
Define, track, and analyze inventory KPIs (accuracy, turnover, days of inventory, obsolescence, service levels, losses).
Analyze data and trends to identify risks, opportunities, and improvement actions.
Prepare and present clear, action-oriented reports to management and cross-functional teams.
Required training and experience
DEC or Bachelor’s degree in operations management, supply chain, industrial engineering, administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in inventory management, preferably in a food manufacturing or consumer goods environment.
Experience in team management or supervision.
Strong knowledge of ERP/WMS systems and inventory management tools.
Experience in a food manufacturing environment with freshness, shelf-life, and traceability requirements.
Professional certifications (e.g., CPIM, CSCP) are an asset.
Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory.
Skills sought
Bilingual (French/English), both written and spoken – essential for communication with English-speaking colleagues, clients, and suppliers across provinces and internationally.
Ability to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into concrete recommendations.
