About the role
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, proactive and versatile Houseman to join our team at Capilano Golf and Country Club. This position reports to the Clubhouse Manager.
The Houseman will be responsible for supporting the smooth operation of the clubhouse and golf course by setting up and maintaining event spaces, assisting with various tasks around the facility, and ensuring the highest level of cleanliness and service. This position requires someone who is self-motivated, able to work independently, and physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Set up events rooms and restaurant spaces for meetings, weddings, banquets, and other club events, ensuring all items are placed and arranged according to specifications.
- Assist in the preparation and breakdown of events, including moving furniture, setting tables, arranging decorations, and ensuring all equipment is in working order.
- Provide general maintenance and support throughout the clubhouse and golf course, including ensuring restrooms, hallways, and public areas are clean, tidy, and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Assist with moving and storing supplies, furniture, and other equipment as needed for events, seasonal changes, and regular club operations.
- Work closely with the food and beverage team, and other departments to ensure all activities run smoothly.
- Perform general custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning windows and cleaning indoor and outdoor areas.
- Lift and transport heavy objects, including furniture and supplies, as required for events and other tasks.
- Assist with other duties as assigned, including seasonal tasks and special projects.
- Be capable of doing minor repairs, small painting jobs, fixing tools, furniture, and other minor maintenance duties related to the role.
Qualifications and skill requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks for extended periods of time.
- Experience doing minor repairs and maintenance.
- Previous experience in hospitality, event setup is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Must be proactive and able to work independently and manage tasks without direct supervision.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by club events.
- Must have a valid BC Driver’s license.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality are a must.
