Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)

We are looking for a Senior ITV Specialist to join our team in Toronto.

The successful candidate will participate in System Design to develop requirements that can be practically validated and defines the methods of validation. You will also prepare test plans, procedures and reports to validate specified requirements. Additionally, you will perform tests in-plant and at project sites in accordance with these test plans and procedures.

Last, s/he will be responsible for: plans; estimates; directing and leading project Validation and Verification work and writing test automation scripts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs analysis of system, subsystem and software requirements to define validation methods and test cases
  • Plans the Validation and Verification Project work, including the preparation of Validation and Verification test plans
  • Plans and performs integration and test activities in-house and at project sites to mitigate the key project commissioning risks
  • Prepares Test Procedures in accordance with Validation and Verification test plans
  • Performs commissioning tests in plant and at project sites
  • Prepares test reports which record the pass, fail status of planned tests and identify problems detected during the tests
  • Directs, supervises and reviews the work of more junior staff performing Validation and Verification work
  • Supervises test staff both in-plant and in the field in assignments/tasks, ensuring application of standards, practices/procedures, quality assurance, and adherence to budgets
  • Trains and develops the skills of more junior staff
  • Develops product knowledge through formal and informal training, On-the-Job-Training (OJT), and self-study
  • Investigates test anomalies through analysis of data files, design documentation and interaction with development departments
  • Prepares problem reports in the defect tracking system describing test failures and defects
  • Assists in the development of Validation & Verification schedules; budgets and associated progress reporting
  • Participates in marketing activity by estimating new project work costs, drafting proposed commissioning and cut over plans and responding to project RFQ's
  • Extended travel to field site is required in accordance with company policy
  • Form and lead dedicated Project Validation and Verification Teams
  • Identify test objectives and test cases
  • Keep current with company test processes and methods
  • Perform traceability analysis
  • Perform design reviews
  • Plan, organize and supervise testing activities
  • Assist in development of Validation and Verification processes and tools
  • Assist in project schedule and budget activities

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5 + years experience in testing of embedded real time systems or equivalent software or hardware test experience
  • Real/time embedded mission critical system test experience
  • Knowledge of railway signaling techniques
  • Competence in team leadership
  • Knowledge of test methods and procedures
  • Competence in technical writing
  • Knowledge of systems to be employed
  • Understanding of the roles of other departments as relating to Verification and Validation/Testing

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent
  • Company product knowledge (SelTrac)
