Reporting to the Manager, Program Implementation and Training, the Program Implementation & Training Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the effective delivery of Nunavut’s Education Program by ensuring that educators and other school staff are effectively trained on those programs, initiatives, policies, curriculum updates, etc. which impact them, their professional activities , and the services they provide.

The incumbent’s activities demonstrates the Department’s commitment to the Education Act, and Regulations, Inuit Language Protection Act, the Education Training Plan, the Department’s Inuit Employment Plan, the Nunavut Teacher’s Association Collective Agreement, the Project Management Directive, and other applicable legislation, regulations, policies, directives, procedures, Collective Agreement, etc.

The Coordinator provides services to all Divisions, units, groups etc. within the Department and, as such works closely with all members of the Department (at varying times and for a variety of reasons) to ensure training programs appropriately reflect the knowledge that should be imparted to educators and are implemented in the manner in which they were designed. An example being the work with Curriculum Development to support the introduction of new curriculum into schools or with Student Achievement in relation to the introduction of new assessment and reporting procedures.

The Program Implementation and Training Coordinator supports the Department in the applications of its Project Management Process Administrative Directive and participates in/sits on Committees (as when required) that pertain to the activities of the Division on the Department as a whole. Additionally, the incumbent ensures that the services and supports they provide reflect/are aligned with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) Principles.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job may come from having a Bachelor’s Degree (a Master’s Degree is preferred) in one of Education, Adult Education or a related field, three (3) years of experience working as an Educator (Nunavut-based experience is preferred), and three (3) years experience in project work at the regional/territorial level, and experience facilitating/delivering workshops targeted at educators.

This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
