The Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA) is an independent agency that develops and administers property assessment policy for the province, and provides property appraisal services to over 750 of Saskatchewan’s urban and rural municipalities.
About the Opportunity
SAMA is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused individual to join our Moose Jaw Regional Office as an Assessment Assistant with Regional Administrative Assistant responsibilities. This unique role combines responsibilities in both property assessment support and regional office administration. Reporting to the Moose Jaw Regional Manager, you will play a key role in supporting appraisers and ensuring the smooth operation of the regional office.
What You’ll Do
Assessment Support
- Provide support services to regional appraisers during field inspections, including collecting and organizing physical property data.
- Conduct property sales verification by contacting property owners and municipalities, processing verification forms, and entering data into the Govern system.
- Assist with data entry and sketching of residential and commercial properties using specialized software.
- Support Agreements to Adjust by inspecting properties, preparing documentation, and liaising with ratepayers and administrators.
- Generate reports such verification summaries.
Administrative Support
- Serve as the first point of contact for the regional office, handling reception duties including phone calls, greeting visitors, and managing mail and courier services.
- Maintain office supplies, filing systems (electronic and paper), and petty cash.
- Process property transfer requests and assist with data compilation and payment handling.
- Support maintenance and reinspection programs by preparing forms, updating trackers, and coordinating with municipalities.
- Assist with preparation of property appeal documentation and updates.
- Provide assistance to appraisers on data entry and assist the public with assessment inquiries.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong communication and public relations skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A High School Diploma and typically some post-secondary training and/or experience in property assessment or administrative support.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
Both a cover letter and resume will be used in the screening process. Candidates under consideration may be required to participate in a numeracy, mathematical, and/or computer proficiency assessment to determine position suitability.
