We are looking for highly motivated, values-driven team players to join our Health and Fitness team.

As a Group Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for leading land or water-based fitness activities and supporting members to reach their health and fitness goals in spirit, mind and body

Location: 410 Rebecca Street, Oakville, Ontario

Hours of work: Part-time with various class times, including evenings and weekends

Salary & Benefits:

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute a sound, safe & effective fitness class; understands the scope of the fitness class and participation capabilities, and modifies the class to suit the needs of participants
  • Demonstrates the vision of the YMCA by developing meaningful, long-lasting relationships with members through purposeful interactions
  • Be an Ambassador for the YMCA through consistent, excellent membership service and support
  • Teach a variety of classes - Cycle, Strength, TRX, Barre, STRONG Nation®, in the evenings and weekends
  • Maintains high member retention through the delivery of relationship-focused individual coaching
  • Monitors all equipment used in group fitness classes to maintain a high-level safety standard
  • Tracks the number of participants in the fitness classes
  • Responds to inquiries regarding fitness programs promptly and acts as an Ambassador of the Wellness department by providing excellent membership service and support
  • Adheres to Adult HFA Policy, Child Protection Policy, health & safety procedures and service standards

Requirements:

  • YMCA (or equivalent) Group Fitness certification a must
  • Experience in planning and executing effective program Group fitness class design and delivery
  • Previous experience instructing a variety of fitness levels
  • Highly skilled and passionate group fitness instructor in multiple streams and has ability to teach a variety of classes
  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Excellent customer service skills/interpersonal skills and communications skills
  • Current CPR and First Aid
  • Current Police Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
