Let’s help you launch your career with Alberta Veterinary Laboratories (“AVL/Solvet”)! We are looking for an energetic and dedicated Senior Accountant to join our team on-site in our Calgary facility working 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday).

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for performing day to day financial and accounting tasks for the Accounting department. Working closely with other accountants and financial professionals, driving performance through providing exceptional attention to detail and accurate financial records.

The objective of this role is to executive timely and accurate financial documentation to support the organization. As a reliable contributor to the accounting function, this role is integral to the performance of the accounting department.

DAY-TO-DAY

  • Ensure compliance with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), and subsequently International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports, forecasts, and annual budgets.
  • Oversee general ledger functions and ensure reconciliation of accounts.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure remittance compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing required documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements in financial workflows.
  • Automate recurring tasks to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Payroll Backup coverage.
  • Other duties as required

IDEAL FIT

Education & Experience

·        CPA Designation or equivalent

·       2+ years in similar role

·       Good Manufacturing Process knowledge an asset

Skills and Attributes

· Acumatica and UKG experience

·       Great interpersonal and communication skills (high functioning level of English required)

·       Highly organized and able to multi-task effectively to prioritize tasks and meet daily deadlines

·       Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, multi-tasking ability, and ability to delivery results under time constraints

REQUIREMENTS

  • Criminal Record Check

WORKING CONDITIONS

·       On-site in SE Calgary

·       GMP compliant facility

·       40 hours/week (Monday - Friday)

·       Proximity to chemicals and hazardous materials housed in the company’s warehouse
