Implementation Project Manager (18 Month Contract)

The Implementation Project Manager will have the responsibility to develop execution strategies for Capital and Departmental projects of multiple merchandising departments and in store construction. This role is the key liaison between the Merchant, supporting Cross Functional Groups, Execution Planning Team and the Supplier Community with respect to the planning of capital and departmental merchandising and construction projects. The Implementation and Planning Project Manager will take a lead role in the development of both merchandising execution strategies and small construction projects to ensure speed to market execution. They will have the responsibilities to coordinate, synchronize and manage the contribution of business groups as well as establish solid partnerships with all cross functional teams and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy Development and Execution
- Develop and implement execution strategies for minor construction projects such as Associate and Customer washroom renovations and Associate Lunch Room renovations.
- Develop and implement execution strategies for capital and departmental merchandising projects, ensuring timely and effective rollout.
- Utilize independent thinking and critical judgment to create tailored strategies that support merchandising departments.
- Drive excellence in the execution of merchandising resets with a bias for action and results.
Project Coordination and Leadership
- Serve as the key liaison between merchants, cross-functional teams, execution planning, and suppliers to coordinate project planning and execution.
- Partner with 3rd party consulting firms to develop scope, planning documents, tender documents and permit documents for construction projects.
- Influence and guide stakeholders across multiple groups and levels, even without formal authority.
- Integrate contributions from internal groups, vendors, service teams, and field partners by identifying and managing dependencies.
- Establish and nurture strong partnerships across all related business groups.
Operational Management and Fiscal Control
- Lead and manage the execution and budget planning for multiple merchandising and construction capital projects.
- Maintain quality and fiscal control over projects, ensuring delivery within budget and standards.
- Provide project metrics, measurement, evaluation, and reporting to support decision making.
Continuous Improvement and Performance Monitoring
- Monitor project outcomes to identify trends, successes, and areas for improvement.
- Respond quickly to emerging opportunities and challenges, adapting plans as needed to ensure project success.

Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires local travel 5% to 20% of the time.

Hybrid Work:
- Location Flex – 4 days in office, store, or IC location
Working Conditions:
- Working in an office setting: computer work, camera on virtual meetings, taking support calls
- Working in a store /warehouse environment that can be dusty and noisy. Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes.
Minimum Education:
- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree/college diploma program or equivalent program in a field of study related to the job.
Minimum Years of Work Experience:
- Years of Relevant Work Experience - 5
- Retail or merchandising experience
- Experience with strategic planning and managing analytical problem-solving efforts, including logical & structured thinking
Minimum Leadership Experience:
- N/A
Certifications:
- PMI Certification or equivalent
Other Requirements/Assets:
- Process improvement background typically found in Six Sigma - Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
- Knowledge in Facilities Maintenance aspects
