Job Description
The individual will act as Team Supervisor overseeing the work of field work crews on projects. The individual will assume day-to-day responsibility for ensuring a smooth-running operation as well as act as “point-of-contact” with client personnel. It will be expected that their knowledge of field operations will be used to aid in the development of quotes and work plans, as well as Job Hazard Assessments.

Manage day-to-day operations for the field team(s) to ensure deliverables are met; delegate responsibilities and activities as required.

Provide feedback to team members in regard to safe job performance through workplace Behavior-Based Safety observations
-
Act as point of contact between Operations and Staff regarding day-to-day activities.

Participate in the Operations Shift Change Meeting (6:00 – 7:00 / 18:00 – 19:00) as required.

Proactively manage communication and relationships between various parties to ensure integration and effective execution of the job scope.

Implement QA/QC, auditing and other project services deliverables.

Assist in the development of quotes and work plans for new and existing project deliverables
-
Review time sheets for employees under own supervision.
-
Be responsible for procuring necessary replenishments to consumables inventory.
-
In cooperation with SGS’ HSE representative, provide an initial investigation report for any incidents involving SGS personnel attached to the project.

Perform, record, and manage Job Hazard Assessments
-
May be assigned special or ad hoc projects, periodically.
-
Provides guidance and/or leadership to others, including indirect reports, peers, or managers.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Post-secondary training is a strong asset.
- Must have previous experience in operational support, including experience in a leadership or supervisory role
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
- Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to operate a boat an asset.
- Must demonstrate strong supervisory skills
- Is a good team player with sense of responsibility
- Has excellent planning, organization, and decision-making skills
- Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
- Holds a valid CSTS certificate.
- Must possess good communication (verbal / written) and interpersonal skills, at all levels;
- Must work well under pressure
- Must be fluent in English
- Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
- Candidates must have knowledge in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
- Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
- Ability to work well with others & independently.
- Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work long hours in adverse weather conditions
- Travel to other SGS locations or client location may be required from time to time.
- Ensures full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.
