Position Overview
FP Canada is in search for a Director, Industry Relations, who is a strategic and highly skilled individual responsible for cultivating and managing relationships with financial services industry organizations in support of FP Canada’s strategy and objectives.
Reporting directly to the VP, Business Development & Communications, and working closely with Marketing and Sales teams as well as members of FP Canada’s Executive Leadership Team, the Director is accountable for supporting the penetration of CFP® certification and QAFP® certification within the industry. The Director is also responsible for developing new sources of financial and other support (including sponsorships) and creating new products and services that meet the needs of key industry organizations.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
FOSTERING GROWTH
- Identify new growth opportunities for FP Canada and its Divisions to meet the needs of industry and diversify sources of funding.
- Determine, prioritize and execute on opportunities to work with industry to support the FP Canada strategy.
PROMOTING FP CANADA
- Promote the importance of FP Canada’s role in advancing professional financial planning by building and maintaining strong relationships with key leaders at financial services firms across Canada.
- Increase penetration of CFP certification and QAFP certification in targeted industry firms and promote the services and offerings available including pre-certification and continuing education programs.
RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT LEADERSHIP
- Support efforts to generate sponsorship and funding for advertising, programs and events.
- Manage a pipeline of relationships and opportunities, ensuring continuous engagement and collaboration with key industry stakeholders.
STRATEGIC & COLLABORATIVE PLANNING
- Work with the VP, Business Development & Communications and other members of the Executive Leadership Team, develop the annual industry relations and business development strategy, plan, budget and measurement metrics.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of combined experience directly in the financial planning and/or wealth management space in business development, marketing, sales and relationship management, with at least three years of experience at a senior level
- CFP certification or QAFP certification is preferred and a strong asset
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent
- Experience in the development of marketing and sales plans, strategies and processes
- Demonstrated track record of consultative sales skill, relationship management and related results
- Deep knowledge of financial services market dynamics, political and regulatory environments

- Ability to establish and nurture strong stakeholder relationships
- Deep knowledge and credibility in financial planning and services
- High business acumen and strategic thinking

We’re FP Canada, a team of passionate and progressive professionals. FP Canada employs over 55 people, and our office is located in downtown Toronto. This is a full-time permanent position working 5 days per week, during core business hours, with some flexibility required. We offer a hybrid-work
model, requiring at a minimum, two days a week (40%) on average, of employees’ time be spent in the

Salary
Salary based on experience, ranging from $130,000 to $158,000
