Geographically located in south-central British Columbia, School District 22 serves the communities of Vernon, Coldstream, Lavington, Lumby, and Cherryville, providing exceptional educational services to a diverse group of students. The district is located on the unceded, ancestral territory of the Syilx Nation. We welcome a growing newcomer population and host approximately 250 international students annually.

We offer a wide variety of educational programs including but not limited to French Immersion, Distributed Learning Courses, opportunities for Trades Training and Secondary Apprenticeships, and school and district-based alternative programs, as well as numerous sports and specialty Academies. The district employs 1,220 staff and operates on a budget of $140 million. Our mission is to inspire and nurture students to thrive in their learning, relationships, and community with a vision to become a community where all are respected, and each person is encouraged to develop their potential.

We are home to 8,800 students; 19 schools, 14 Elementary schools, 5 Secondary schools, 1 district online learning school (vLearn), and 1 alternate program.

School District 22 is seeking leaders to support and ensure the success of the Board of Education's Strategic Priorities including Student Success, Leadership Excellence, and Community Connections.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in education
  • Valid BC teaching certificate or eligibility for certification with the BC Teacher Regulation Branch
  • Extensive exemplary teaching experience in public education
  • Minimum 3 years of recent exemplary public school leadership experience
  • Experience leading programs and initiatives at the school and/or the district level
  • Experience in ensuring inclusive learning environments
  • Experience incorporating Indigenous education
  • Experience teaching in a unionized public-school setting using the BC curriculum

The successful candidate will receive:

  • A salary range of:

  • Principal Elementary - $152,536 to $161,171

  • Principal Middle - $156,854 to $165,488

  • Principal Secondary - $161,171 to $169,806
