Position Overview The Aircraft painter will demonstrate the ability to prepare/paint aircraft, aircraft components and parts within given tolerances and time frames.

What You Will Do

  • Carries out the complete painting and related activities including sealing and stenciling under general supervision in regards to aircraft and other products manufactured, repaired or overhauled by the company.
  • Carries out preparation of surfaces including stripping, cleaning, masking and tack ragging as necessary.
  • Participates in training for occupational trades progressing to Refinisher.
  • Provides on-job-training to other members of the Aircraft Painter trade including Cleaners/Strippers.
  • Removes all debris accumulated by task(s) performed and maintains a clean, safe work area.
  • Performs other tasks as may be required from time to time in his/her trade and assists other members of the Aircraft Refinishing Trade Group in the tasks as directed.
  • After On the Job Training, carry out treatment of metals prior to painting.

What You Will Bring

  • Candidate entering this classification must have one of the following: Ex-military ACs trade, CCAA Aviation Painter, Graduate of an approved Commerical or Community College Painter or Refinisher Program, be qualified in the Aircraft Cleaner/Stripper trade or have recognizedd aircraft spray painting training.
  • The incumbent will be fully conversant with safety standards/procedures concerning the plant, equipment and materials for the Aircraft Refinishing trade.
  • The individual will be required to work at heights in excess of ten feet/three meters. Be willing to learn and subsequently operate high lift equipment.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.
  • Must be able to work a range of shifts.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies. Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 8S activities in your area.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
