Shermco Canada is seeking a motivated, safety-focused Apprentice Electrician to join our growing Saskatchewan team. Based in Saskatoon, you’ll gain hands-on experience across a wide range of industrial projects while working alongside experienced professionals committed to safety, quality, and technical excellence.
Our team supports clients across diverse sectors including utilities, mining, oil & gas, and technology, working on systems ranging from 24V to 230kV. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, expand your industry knowledge, and build a long-term career in the electrical trade.
Responsibilities
As a registered Apprentice Electrician, you will
Perform assigned electrical tasks under the supervision of a certified Journeyperson Electrician in accordance with SATCC regulations Assist in the installation, construction, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment Work with low, medium, and high voltage systems appropriate to your level of training and competency Participate in structured, progressive skills development consistent with your apprenticeship level Accurately record hours worked and tasks performed toward apprenticeship requirements Support troubleshooting and testing of electrical and control systems Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition Travel to project sites, including out-of-town work, as required
Apprenticeship & Regulatory Requirements
Must be registered or eligible for registration as an Apprentice Electrician with the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC) Commitment to completing required technical training (in-school training) and on-the-job training hours Maintain a valid apprenticeship agreement throughout employment
Qualifications
Registered or eligible to register as an Apprentice Electrician in Saskatchewan
Previous industrial or commercial electrical experience is considered an asset Completion of relevant safety training (e.g., CSTS, WHMIS) is an asset Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record Willingness and availability to travel for project-based work Commitment to safe work practices and continuous learning
Health, Safety & Workplace Requirements
Compliance with all Shermco Canada Health, Safety, and Environmental policies is required Participation in required training and safety programs is mandatory This position may be subject to pre-employment and ongoing testing in accordance with Shermco Canada’s Alcohol and Drug Policy and applicable laws
