Job Summary The Process Safety Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and executing environmental, safety, and health activities that support the corporate initiative in Crossfield EPS plant with additional support to other plants, as additional support, as required. This role includes being directly responsible for the creation, adoption, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the facility environmental, safety and health, as well as policies and procedures. Travel required. What You Will Do

  • Oversee process safety programs and drive initiatives that improve personnel safety, health, and environmental compliance.
  • Develop, deliver, and track process safety and EHS training for employees across all functions.
  • Lead and support incident management, including timely investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and regulatory reporting.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on PSM and EHS regulations, corporate policies, and procedures, ensuring integration into SOPs and work instructions.
  • Develop and implement training programs aimed at reducing process safety risks and improving hazard awareness.
  • Ensure timely closure and communication of corrective actions from incident investigations, audits, safety assessments, and committee meetings.
  • Review, update, and maintain PSM and EHS policies and procedures to comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain hazard communication programs (WHMIS, GHS) and ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are current.
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene assessments (air monitoring, noise, ergonomics) as required.
  • Support PSM documentation requirements for new processes, materials, and equipment, including SOPs, JSAs, LOTO procedures, and process hazard analyses (PHAs).
  • Review and maintain safety-related documentation such as inspection reports, safety committee minutes, incident investigations, and near-miss reports.
  • Track and report on employee training, workplace inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Manage and maintain routine safety and compliance inspections (weekly, monthly, annual).
  • Oversee hazardous materials management, inspections, and reporting.
  • Act as management representative for ISO 14001/9001 certifications related to process safety and environmental systems.
  • Lead annual updates to PSM and safety programs, including the Safety Manual, Emergency Response Plans, and Contingency Plans.
  • Perform other duties related to process safety and risk management as assigned.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Knowledge

  • Requirement in environmental science, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, engineering, or related fields. Three years proven experience in EHS.
  • Seven years proven experience in EHS in a manufacturing setting without a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Must have Process Safety Management experience.
  • Must understand chemical processes.
  • Experience in provincial regulations, Process Safety Management requirements, and ISO standards
  • Minimum of valid certification for Standard Intermediate First Aid
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with formal problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to function in a team environment, work well with others, handles multiple priorities and projects as necessary.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, Benchmark operation a plus.
  • Data analysis skills.
