Role Overview
As a Graphic Designer, you’ll play a key role in transforming client requests into impactful creative solutions. You’ll be responsible for creating artwork from scratch, adapting client-supplied files, developing presentation materials, and producing accurate print layouts for prototypes and production.
This role requires balancing creative design, technical production accuracy, and cross-team collaboration. You’ll work closely with structural designers, production, sales, and vendors to ensure all deliverables meet client brand guidelines and Harding Display quality standards.
A Closer Look At What You Will Do
Creative & Operational Excellence:
- Review incoming design requests for clarity, ensuring deliverables can be executed to client expectations
- Develop concept art for temporary, semi-permanent, and permanent retail displays
- Create and prepare final graphics templates that align with customer brand guidelines
- Support the Print Production Manager with production layouts and art prep
- Occasionally proof vendor-supplied hard copy prints using checklists to confirm fonts, colours, and images
- Revise and refine designs based on internal and client feedback
- Ensure dielines from structural design align accurately with print-ready artwork
- Manage project files according to HDC standards and policies
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (production, operations, sales) to deliver successful outcomes
- Provide timely updates on milestones, challenges, or changes that may impact project timelines
- Partner with project teams to solve challenges and negotiate workable solutions
- Occasionally attend client briefings and brainstorming sessions
Leadership & Growth:
- Ensure compliance with design request processes and file standards
- Take full ownership of assigned projects, monitoring timelines and workload to avoid bottlenecks
- Proactively flag risks (timeline, scope creep, design accuracy) and escalate when needed
- Contribute to team knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement
Financial Awareness:
- Deliver client work that meets expectations while respecting project budgets
- Help identify out-of-scope requests and communicate potential impacts on project profitability
- Work efficiently with resources to maximize value and minimize waste
What You’ll Need to be successful
- Experience: 3–5 years in graphic design for packaging, POP displays, or promotional design
- Education: Degree/diploma in Graphic Design, Packaging, or Digital Media—or equivalent experience
- Technical Skills:
- Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) – intermediate to expert
- Strong understanding of printing processes, colour management, and dielines
- Ability to produce both conceptual sketches and polished, print-ready files
- Familiarity with large-format printers and production workflows
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt under pressure
- Competitive, ambitious, and goal-driven with a sense of urgency
- Asset: Experience with 3D modelling software (3DS Max with V-Ray preferred)
