About The Role. The North American Agricultural Team is seeking an intern to join us from May to August 2026. McCain’s Seed & Variety team works closely with growers to produce new potato varieties, focusing on both securing a reliable supply chain and ensuring exceptional quality. As an intern, you will explore the diverse seed quality standards used across the USA and Canada. Your challenge will be to develop a harmonized McCain seed standard that leverages each parameter’s potential, directly informing contract incentive pricing. You will play a key role in implementing a quality-driven seed grower framework by linking cutting-edge research with real-world best
practices in seed production.
We are looking for a proactive and curious individual ready to explore the pros and cons of various seed quality factors. You will use peer-reviewed studies, engage with academic and industry experts, and lead your own research to generate new insights. By the end of your internship, you will have identified and evaluated leading methods for quantifying seed quality. You will also create a user-friendly calculator to help value each seed lot based on your research findings
What You’ll Be Doing.
- Conduct a comprehensive literature review to determine which seed quality parameters most influence crop performance and yield.
- Design and develop a practical calculator for seed incentive pricing, using real-world data and your research findings.
- Lead your own investigative project, generating evidence to support McCain’s innovative, quality-focused approach to seed growing.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful.
- College Junior/Senior majoring in Ag Science, Plant Science, Plant Pathology, Chemistry, Biology or a closely related discipline
- Familiarity with PowerBI and Python an asset
- Knowledge of farm practices and vegetable production is desirable but not necessary
- Basic to Intermediate skills in word processing, spreadsheet, data management, and presentation preparations. Statistical computer applications are preferred
- Communication skills – must be able to speak effectively both to individuals as well as to groups, making short presentations in group settings, familiar with video conferencing
- Must be able to write routine correspondence and reports to a variety of audiences
- A valid driver’s license, comfortable flying/driving long distances
- Work outside in different weather conditions under the sun and in a variety of temperatures
- Occasionally requires substantial physical effort and working in awkward positions
About The Team. You will be based in Florenceville, NB, with opportunities to travel to key seed production regions including Idaho, Montana, Wisconsin, Maine, Alberta, and Manitoba, providing hands-on exposure to different agricultural practices. The supervisor is located near McCain’s processing plant in Burley, Idaho. You will have a strong local support network, including the Seed Operations Lead in Easton, Maine, the Seed & Variety Representative (East) and the Seed Agronomist in Florenceville, NB.

Compensation Package: $23.00-$26.00 CAD hourly wage equivalent, paid salary. The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting.
