The Faculty of Kinesiology invites applications for a sessional instructor in Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 for the following course:

KNES 201, Activity: Essence & Experience ¿ ACTIVITY LABS

In KNES 201, which consists of a lecture and activity labs, students participate in various activities and movement patterns and the study of the fundamental factors that influence the activities we choose and the way we move. This posting is for an activity lab in both fall and winter terms. Activity labs are organized in 6-week blocks, run twice weekly, and are 75-minutes each in length.

We are seeking applications for the following activity in the 2025-2026 academic year: yoga. The yoga activity lab is scheduled as follows:

Fall Term

  • Block 1 - September 10 to October 17
  • Lab 1 - W/F, 3:00pm to 4:15pm

Winter Term

  • Block 1 - January 12 to February 23
  • Lab 1 - M/W, 1:00pm ¿ 2:15pm

The successful candidate will ideally teach in both the fall and winter terms.

In general, instructor responsibilities include: activity lab instruction; assessment and grading; creation and management of the activity lab D2L shell; ongoing communication with students, course instructor, and staff; and other assigned duties (as applicable). There are 30 students per activity block.

Position Requirements

For KNES 201 activity labs, applicants must meet the following qualifications/requirements:

  • Earned at minimum a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or a related field; other educational qualifications will be considered alongside applicable certifications.
  • Advanced expertise in the activity they will be instructing as part of KNES 201.
  • Evidence of strong instructing of said activity, with teaching at the university level considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse groups of people.

  • Required for applicants who have not taught courses in the Faculty of Kinesiology previously.
