We are seeking a QA Technology Enablement Analyst – Automation to deliver robust automation frameworks, tools, and expertise to digital pods and project teams. Drive the implementation, optimization, and scaling of enterprise automation solutions, ensuring high-quality, efficient delivery and continuous improvement.

The QA Technology Enablement Analyst – Automation will report to QA Manager, Technology & Enablement (CoE) within Air Canada’s Quality Management Office, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide quality standards and governance.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the automation SME for digital pods, overseeing test planning, execution, defect management, and reporting.
  • Manage and execute large enterprise automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, and others, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and reliability across multiple teams and projects.
  • Integrate and enhance ACATS releases (e.g., Playwright migration), create release notes, and instructional materials.
  • Coordinate beta testing and feedback for new automation features across teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to BrowserStack, GitHub Pipelines, and framework integrations.
  • Conduct regular audits and code reviews for automation frameworks and test suites.
  • Track and analyze automation-related tickets and trends to drive continuous improvement.
  • Implement parallel testing, reduce redundant test cases, and improve test suite stability.
  • Maintain and expand automated regression suites, ensuring high coverage and reliability.
  • Support functional and regression testing for steady-state and project releases.
  • Collaborate with developers, test teams, and DevOps to embed automation into the software development lifecycle.
  • Promote shift-left testing practices and early defect detection through automated test coverage.
  • Mentor and guide pods on automation strategy, tool usage, testing techniques, and quality metrics.
  • Support integration with CI/CD tools for continuous testing.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for automation adoption, test coverage, defect leakage, and overall quality effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with QA governance, security, IT policies, and external regulatory standards.
  • Ensure accessibility test coverage is included in automation suites, in alignment with WCAG and Air Canada’s accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate with accessibility specialists and developers to validate inclusive design and usability.
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops to build automation and QA capabilities across IT.
  • Support test data management and environment setup for automated and manual test execution.
  • Analyze automation test results and provide actionable insights to improve product quality and delivery confidence.
  • Integrate AI-driven automation capabilities for predictive test selection, self-healing scripts, and intelligent defect analysis.
  • Implement observability for automation frameworks, including telemetry, dashboards, and real-time alerts.
  • Conduct regular audits and evolve frameworks to embed faster, more resilient solutions using AI and cloud-native practices.
  • Act as a liaison between digital pods and the QMO COE to ensure feedback loops and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in release readiness reviews and provide go/no-go recommendations based on automation quality metrics and risk assessments.
  • Provide regular updates and reporting to the QA Manager on automation health, risks, accessibility coverage, and improvement opportunities.

Technical Requirements & Tools:

  • Enterprise Automation Frameworks: Hands-on expertise in managing and executing large-scale frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Maestro, Appium, REST Assured, and Gherkin-based BDD (Cucumber).
  • AI-Assisted Automation: Familiarity with Cursor IDE or similar AI-assisted automation tools.
  • Cloud Platforms: Knowledge and hands-on experience with MCPs with proficiency in AWS and Azure cloud services – Use of AWS S3 and JFrog Artifactory for artifact storage and management.
  • Cross-Platform Testing: Ability to automate and execute tests across web, mobile, desktop, SAP, IVR, and API platforms. Use of BrowserStack, Tosca, ACCELQ, UiPath, or similar cloud execution platforms for cross-browser and device testing.
  • DevOps & Integration: Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Harness, Azure DevOps, Jenkins), source control and code quality (GitHub, SonarQube, Checkmarx, GitHub Copilot), and log management (log4j).
  • Data & Reporting: Data-driven testing with SQL Server, Oracle DB, Excel. Test management and reporting with Jira XRAY and Automation Execution Dashboard.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in automation testing or quality engineering.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and scaling automation frameworks.
  • Programming skills in Typescript (preferred), Python, or Java
  • Knowledge of MCPs and future
  • Experience with AI-based automation tools (e.g., Testim, Mabl, or similar).
  • Strong background in framework optimization and scalability.
  • Strong programming skills and understanding of CI/CD integration.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable engaging both business and technical teams.
  • Passion for innovation, AI-assisted testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Certifications (Preferred): ISTQB, AWS, Microsoft Azure, or automation/AI certifications preferred
