About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, ensuring their safety and well‑being.
  • Utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making.
  • Teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
  • Support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.
  • Provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • If not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management – Chapters 1‑4 and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
  • Minimum 3 years recent acute care experience.
  • Minimum 2 years recent ER experience.
  • Triage (Recent CTAS Training) nurse and/or Charge nurse experience.
  • Connect Care Training.
  • Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Current certification in Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
  • Current certification in Emergency Nurses Pediatric Course (ENCP).
  • Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Advanced Critical Care Nursing (ACCN) certification.
  • Strangers in Crisis.

Other Details

  • Shift hours: 07:30 – 19:45 and 19:30 – 07:45.
  • FTE: 0.60.
  • Temporary Employee Class: Temp P/T Benefits.
  • Minimum Salary: $43.26/hour.
  • Maximum Salary: $59.21/hour.
  • Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable.
  • Union: United Nurses of Alberta.
  • Location: Northeast Community Health Centre, Edmonton, Alberta.
