About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, ensuring their safety and well‑being.
- Utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making.
- Teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
- Support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.
- Provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- If not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management – Chapters 1‑4 and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
- Minimum 3 years recent acute care experience.
- Minimum 2 years recent ER experience.
- Triage (Recent CTAS Training) nurse and/or Charge nurse experience.
- Connect Care Training.
- Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI).
Preferred Qualifications
- Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Current certification in Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
- Current certification in Emergency Nurses Pediatric Course (ENCP).
- Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Advanced Critical Care Nursing (ACCN) certification.
- Strangers in Crisis.
Other Details
- Shift hours: 07:30 – 19:45 and 19:30 – 07:45.
- FTE: 0.60.
- Temporary Employee Class: Temp P/T Benefits.
- Minimum Salary: $43.26/hour.
- Maximum Salary: $59.21/hour.
- Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable.
- Union: United Nurses of Alberta.
- Location: Northeast Community Health Centre, Edmonton, Alberta.
