We work together every day to help minimize the impact of workplace injuries and illnesses on Alberta workers and employers.

Our employees are inspired to make a positive impact on the lives of injured workers and businesses throughout the province.

As a fair process advisor, you’ll play a vital role in upholding fairness within Alberta’s workers’ compensation system. Working independently within WCB-Alberta (WCB), our office reviews concerns from workers, their dependants, and employers who believe they’ve been treated unfairly.

This role is ideal for someone who values procedural justice, listens with empathy and brings clarity to complex situations. If you're passionate about ensuring people are treated with respect and transparency and want to make a meaningful impact—this is your opportunity.

Your role supports consistent, fair, and respectful practices within the workers’ compensation system.

Your responsibilities:

  • Engage with workers, employers, representatives and WCB teams to understand fairness concerns through thoughtful review and respectful dialogue.

  • Identify and clarify issues relevant to the early resolution of a fairness concern, including matters that present challenges to early resolution.

  • Recommend and support timely, effective resolution strategies within WCB; these may be at a claim, account or system level.

  • Collaborate with all parties to rebuild trust and support fair outcomes.

  • Facilitate open dialogue and joint problem-solving with workers, employers, supervisors and management to resolve concerns and clearly communicate outcomes to all stakeholders.

  • Promote a culture of fairness by sharing insights, education and offering guidance on WCB’s administrative fairness practices.

Your experience and skills:

  • A degree or diploma in social sciences, rehabilitation, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with administrative fairness principles, WCB’s Code of Rights and Conduct and WCB’s fairness review mandate.

  • Ability to interpret theWorkers’ Compensation Act, policies and processes, and anticipate organizational impacts.

  • Excellent communication - both written and verbal.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Active listening and empathy in complex, sensitive situations.

  • Confidence engaging with all levels of management and stakeholders.

  • Skilled in collaborative problem-solving and navigating differing perspectives.
