Apply today! Providence Health Care is hiring Cooks for multiple locations! As a Cook, you will report directly to the Food Services Manager and be responsible for preparing and serving meals using a variety of cooking methods such as frying, roasting, grilling, steaming, poaching, baking, and boiling. You will follow established menus and recipes to prepare food items for patients, residents, clients, cafeteria patrons, and catered events.
Your duties will include portioning and plating meals, ensuring food quality and presentation standards are met, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. You will also be responsible for adhering to all safety protocols and health regulations while contributing to a positive dining experience for those in our care.

Education and Experience
- Graduation from a recognized 12-month program in cooking or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Food Safe Certificate Level 1

Your Day to Day
- Prepares food items following established menus, recipes, and quantity quotas.
- Ensures freshness, minimizes holding times, and meets meal periods.
- Cooks and seasons various food items using methods like roasting, frying, and baking.
- Tests food for palatability and temperature, adjusting as needed.
- Follows all sanitation and safety requirements, reporting hazards immediately.
- Carves and portions food items to meet quantity quotas.
- Operates kitchen equipment like mixers, ovens, and toasters.
- Maintains food rotations in storage to minimize spoilage and waste.
- Keeps equipment and cooking areas clean, including stoves and countertops.
