The Director of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) provides strategic and operational leadership for enterprise-wide EHS programs within an electrical transformer and integrated electrical solutions manufacturing environment. The role is accountable for regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and building a strong safety and environmental culture across all operations, including manufacturing, assembly, distribution, testing, warehousing, and field services. With a strong focus on high‑risk manufacturing activities, the Director partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and People & Culture teams to embed EHS excellence into daily execution and serves as an expert representative in regulatory, government, and legal forums. This role reports directly to the Chief People Officer.
#####Key Responsibilities Include:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for all enterprise-wide Environment, Health & Safety programs across multiple facilities and functions
- Ensure full compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations at local, provincial/state, and federal levels
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS policies, standards, and management systems
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational and environmental risks, with a strong focus on high‑risk manufacturing activities, including:
- High‑voltage electrical testing
- Oil handling (mineral oil and alternative fluids)
- Hazardous materials management
- Heavy equipment operations
- Confined spaces
- Environmental permitting and reporting
- Foster and sustain a strong safety and environmental culture across manufacturing, assembly, distribution, testing, warehousing, and field service operations
- Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and People & Culture teams to embed EHS excellence into daily manufacturing execution
- Lead and mentor EHS site professionals to ensure consistent application of standards and best practices across all locations
- Oversee incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
- Act as the organization’s EHS subject matter expert, providing testimony, guidance, and professional opinion in legal, government, and regulatory forums
- Monitor EHS performance metrics, trends, and KPIs, and report results to senior leadership with actionable recommendations
- Support business growth initiatives by proactively assessing EHS risks associated with new products, processes, technologies, and facilities
- Ensure emergency preparedness, crisis management, and business continuity plans are in place and regularly tested
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, including direct reporting to the Chief People Officer
#####Do you qualify? We are seeking:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred

Minimum10 years of progressive EHS experience, including leadership roles within complex manufacturing or industrial environments
-
Demonstrated experience leading EHS programs in high‑risk operational settings such as electrical manufacturing, heavy industry, or energy-related operations
-
Strong working knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., OSHA/CCOHS, EPA/Environment Canada, ISO 14001, ISO 45001)

Proven track record of building and scaling enterprise-wide EHS strategies across multiple sites

Experience managing and developing high-performing EHS teams

Ability to serve as a credible expert in interactions with regulators, legal counsel, and government agencies

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and corrective action management

Effective influencer with the ability to partner cross-functionally and drive cultural change at all organizational levels

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex EHS topics clearly to executives and frontline teams

Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or CRSP considered a strong asset

Willingness and ability to travel to operational sites as required (approx. 20% travel)
