Fitness Room Attendant
(CUPE Auxiliary)
The City of Pitt Meadows is seeking an auxiliary Fitness Room Attendant to overseeing the weight room and recreational gym in the fitness centre at the Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre. They may also support a variety of summer recreation programs in our community.
Reporting to the Manager of Recreation, this position is responsible for providing supervision, instruction, guidance, and orientations to patrons to ensure the safe and proper use of fitness equipment. They will also ensure that equipment is in good working order and that the area is clean and safe. We are looking for someone who is skilled and experienced in assisting individuals with fitness programs. If you are passionate about supporting and enhancing the fitness journey of others, then this may be the opportunity for you!
Applicants must be willing to work a variety of shifts Monday through Sunday, 5:45am – 1:00am. Scheduling will fluctuate based on operational needs, with shifts primarily from Friday to Sunday evenings to support events.
QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by a diploma or certification program in community recreation, leadership and/or sport science, and sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Sound knowledge of personal training and rehabilitation services.

Sound knowledge of the principles and practices in weight training, fitness programs, and fitness equipment, as well as the relevant principles of human anatomy and physiology.

Experience working in a fitness centre will be considered an asset.

BCRPA Weight Trainer – Fitness (or equivalent).
-
BCRPA Personal Trainer certification (or equivalent).
-
Emergency First Aid.
-
CPR Certification.
-
Criminal Record Check.
-
Enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service to internal and external contacts.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.
WHAT WE OFFER

CUPE Pay Grade 14, Step 1 - $28.23/hr (2024 rates) plus 12% in lieu of benefits and general holiday pay.
