Job Description Job Summary A Senior Financial Analyst based out of the Toronto office. This is a unique position that will require working on both Canadian and International financial accounting and reporting. The position requires a highly dynamic candidate with excellent general ledger and technical accounting skills, attention to detail, an ability to meet tight deadlines and a commitment to excellent performance. Experience with ERP systems will be considered a plus. This is a hybrid role, with 1–2 days per week expected in person at 200 Bay Street in Toronto.
Responsibilities:
- General ledger accounting, month end and quarter end closings and related reporting
- Prepare Prepaids & accruals reconciliations, payroll, balance sheet and P&L reconciliations, month end journal entries
- Prepare monthly Department wise Budget vs Actuals and provide insights and analysis to department managers
- Treasury administration, prepare bank reconciliations.
- Keeping necessary audit trials and supporting the Controller in compiling information for internal, external, tax and regulatory audits.
- Responsible for paying monthly/quarterly tax installments for sales tax and premium taxes
- Review AP and other expense invoices and recommend proper coding.
- Manage the Mexico US GAAP books close off and quarterly reporting
- To prepare IFRS 17 journal entries, reconciliations and support the Controller for regulatory filing preparations.
- To perform analysis on complex accounting issues and assist with ad hoc audit requests.
- Identify and implement solutions which improve efficiency and effectiveness through the elimination, simplification, and automation of processes.
- Prepare and deliver any other ad hoc management reports/ requests.
- Participate in special projects as required.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working at a financial services organization in the areas of financial accounting/reporting and budgeting/financial analysis or an accounting firm
- University degree with a focus in finance or accounting
- Accounting designation or working towards one is desirable Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent understanding of accounting concepts and cycles
- Strong team orientation with ability to collaborate with internal clients, peers and management.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities and the ability to troubleshoot
- Have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within Finance as well as the client groups supported.
- Understanding of insurance accounting concepts is a definite asset
Salary Range - $90,000 to $100,000 annually Please note that salaries are dependent on various matrix including experience, education, skills etc.
