About the role
KELLA Coatings Solutions Inc. Estimator/Coordinator Calgary, Alberta - Full-Time - Competitive Salary $60K (DOE)
About Us KELLA Coatings Solutions Inc. is a Calgary-based commercial painting and coatings subcontractor delivering quality finishes on construction projects across Alberta. As a growing company, we take pride in building strong relationships, running tight operations, and doing the work right the first time. We’re a small, driven team where your contribution is visible and your growth is real.
The Role We’re looking for an Estimator/Coordinator to work side by side with ownership to estimate, coordinate, support and represent our business. This is a hands-on role that owns the bid process from tender to award, staying involved through project handoff and closeout. If you’re organized, commercially sharp, and want to grow with a company rather than get lost in one, this is the opportunity.
What You’ll Do
- Receive, organize, and manage incoming tender requests in a timely and responsive manner
- Review plans and specifications to determine scope and pricing for each project
- Analyze construction drawings to identify scope gaps and overlaps
- Communicate with vendors to obtain material quotes and assist in purchasing
- Create RFIs, analyze responses, and distribute to relevant parties
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to review existing conditions as required
- Price hard bids, assist in negotiations, and provide budgets from conceptual through final construction documents
- Develop strategies to estimate and win competitive bids
- Attend and present at award meetings with clients and design teams
- Engage in value engineering, budgeting, and constructability reviews
- Prepare key plan drawings, budgets, scope documents, and submittals for field staff
- Facilitate project hand-off meetings with field staff to ensure a smooth transition
- Price and manage change orders throughout the project lifecycle
- Compile O&M manuals for project closeout
- Attend networking functions to promote company interests
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, or a related field preferred; equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction estimating (coatings, finishes, or related trade experience is a strong asset)
- Clear understanding of architectural drawings and finish specifications
- Working knowledge of coatings products and industry standards
- Understanding of general contracts, subcontract documents, and estimating and purchasing principles
- Strong written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure, meet hard bid deadlines, and stay organized in a fast-moving environment
- A team player who builds and maintains strong relationships with crew, customers, and trades
- Lifelong learner, an openness to ongoing training and professional development
Why Join KELLA?
- Work directly with ownership — your input shapes how the company grows
- Empowering, team-first work environment where integrity and great service come first
- Competitive salary $60K+ dependent on experience and education
- Wellness days
- Benefits package
- Room to grow as the company grows
