Seasonal Gift Shop Attendant - Sault Ste. Marie, ON
About the role
Starting Hourly Rate: $17.98
Gift Shop Attendants play an important role in creating a memorable guest experience by assisting passengers, operating onboard sales areas, stocking merchandise and food items, and supporting daily train operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, professional, and attentive customer service to all passengers
- Operate onboard sales counter and process customer purchases
- Sell food, beverages, souvenirs, and other onboard inventory items
- Stock and organize gift shop and onboard inventory before and during excursions
- Assist with inventory counts, tracking, and restocking supplies
- Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming service areas
- Respond to guest questions and assist with passenger needs throughout the trip
- Work collaboratively with train crew and staff to ensure smooth daily operations
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and service standards
Qualifications
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to potential issues or guest concerns
- Capable of working efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable multitasking and adapting to changing needs during excursions
- Basic computer and point-of-sale system proficiency
- Team-oriented attitude with willingness to assist in various operational tasks
- Energetic, dependable, and eager to learn
- Patient, positive, and professional demeanor
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work onboard a moving train
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time seasonal employment from July through October 18
- Availability required for weekdays, weekends, holidays, and special events
- Approximately 10-hour shifts based on train excursion schedules
- Work is performed onboard a moving tour train in a customer-facing hospitality environment
