About the role
Purpose & Position presentation:
The Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA) supports the delivery of a nurturing, inclusive, and age-appropriate education program for children in the Mowachaht/Muchalaht Kaackamin Centre. The ECEA works under the guidance and supervision of certified Early Childhood Educators and contributes to creating a safe and culturally rich learning environment. This position will support daycare and preschool programs.
Core responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing developmentally appropriate activities
- Assist in preparing nutritious snacks and meals, as required
- Changing diapers
- Sanitizing of toys and other materials
- Communicating with families and assist in addressing any questions or concerns
- Document observations and complete reports where required
- Collaborate with the Daycare team to discuss and implement program improvements
- Builds and maintains professional working relationships with parents and caregivers
- Ensures all daycare policies and guidelines are adhered to
- Assist children with special needs, as required. Demonstrate patience and compassion.
Job Requirements:
Education: ▪ Valid Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA) Certificate recognized by any province/territory in Canada. ▪ Valid Standard First Aid or Child Safe Certificate. Experience: ▪ Experience working with young children in a licensed care setting is preferred. ▪ Experience working in a First Nations community or setting is an asset. Skills and Abilities: ▪ Positive, nurturing attitude with a genuine love for working with children. ▪ Respect for cultural teachings and willingness to learn and incorporate Indigenous ways of knowing. ▪ Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. ▪ Strong communication and interpersonal skills. ▪ Dependable, punctual, and professional. ▪ Commitment to professional growth and development. Mandatory Requirements: ▪ Clear RCMP Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector (issued within the past year). ▪ Valid Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle. Working Conditions: Work is performed at the Mowachaht/Muchalaht Kaackamin Centre
