The City of Port Coquitlam is currently seeking a positive, energetic and customer focused, individual to work in our Finance Department as the Customer Service Representative – Revenue and Collections. Reporting to the Manager of Revenue Services, the incumbent will perform a variety of customer service and basic bookkeeping tasks to ensure the timely, accurate and efficient billing and processing of the City's main revenue streams including but not limited to property taxes and utility payments, and cemetery sales.

Some of the key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Provide information and assistance by responding to inquiries from a variety of customers, including members of the public, contractors, professionals and internal staff.
  • Receives payment for a variety of accounts and services such as taxes, utilities and cemetery.
  • Balances monies received for daily transactions in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of correspondence, files, and reports; and compiles information, statistics, communication materials and other documents related to the work.

The successful candidate for this position will have:

  • You have a thorough understanding of business English, spelling and punctuation supplemented by post-secondary courses in business communications.
  • You have at least six months’ experience with cash handling, point of sale systems or have completed a basic bookkeeping course.
  • You have strong Microsoft Office skills along with an accurate typing speed of 45WPM.
  • You have the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • You have exceptional customer service skills with at least two years’ experience in customer service role supplemented with conflict resolution training.
