Position Summary The Production Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining automated production equipment used in the manufacturing of Greenlid compostable cutlery products.

This role requires individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, high-output manufacturing environment and are comfortable working under pressure to meet production targets. Operators will run forming, laminating, and packaging equipment, perform quality checks, and ensure efficient, safe production of finished goods.

Production Operators are expected to remain attentive at their machines while lines are running and actively manage performance, quality, and troubleshooting in real time.

SHIFT SCHEDULE

8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday - Straight Days, Straight Afternoons or Straight Nights available

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor forming, laminating, and packaging equipment
  • Run automated cutlery production lines and ensure continuous output
  • Adjust machine settings (temperature, pressure, speed, adhesive levels, alignment) to maintain specifications
  • Load raw materials including paper rolls, glue, cartridges, and packaging materials
  • Remove finished cutlery, monitor forming quality, and pack to required quantities
  • Perform routine quality checks including visual inspections, measurements, and product counts
  • Identify and remove defective product; escalate quality concerns immediately
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and coordinate with Maintenance for complex concerns
  • Maintain accurate production, downtime, and quality records
  • Support line changeovers and product adjustments
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with 5S and GMP standards
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental policies
  • Assist with palletizing and preparing finished goods for shipment
  • Support continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Education / Skills / Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating production lines in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience in plastics, packaging, food production, or automated manufacturing is considered an asset
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues
  • Ability to read and follow production specifications and work instructions
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure production setting
  • Strong attention to detail and quality focus
  • Ability to meet productivity targets and maintain consistency over 12-hour shifts
  • Basic computer skills for production tracking
  • Forklift certification considered an asset

WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Manufacturing plant environment
  • Exposure to machinery noise and moving equipment
  • Required use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (12-hour shifts)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Repetitive hand movements
  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures and industrial conditions
