Facilities Services at the Vancouver campus is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of SFU’s downtown facilities, including Harbour Centre. The team ensures spaces are safe, functional, and responsive to the needs of academic, administrative, and external users. Core services include building operations and maintenance, project management, service coordination, and client support for the campus community. The team contributes to maintaining high-quality teaching and learning environments and supporting initiatives to improve space utilization and user experience. The team culture is collaborative, service-oriented, and solutions-focused, with a strong emphasis on responsiveness, accountability, and continuous improvement.
About the Role
The Project Coordinator supports the planning and delivery of facilities and space optimization initiatives at SFU’s Vancouver campus. The role coordinates day-to-day project activities, supports stakeholder engagement, and ensures effective communication across teams and partners. This position contributes to departmental priorities by helping deliver projects on time, maintaining service continuity, and improving the functionality and use of campus spaces. Over the next 12 months, the role will focus on the Harbour Centre Space Optimization project, including phased renovations, move coordination, and implementation of shared space solutions. This is an opportunity to support a high-impact initiative that enhances the campus experience for students, faculty, and staff.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. They bring strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. Experience supporting projects, tracking deliverables, and maintaining documentation is essential. A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and strong problem-solving abilities are key to success. Familiarity with facilities, space planning, or operational environments is an asset. The candidate should be adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable navigating evolving priorities while maintaining a high standard of service and accountability.
