MLSE LaunchPad is a 42,000 sq. ft. Sport For Development facility where youth facing barriers use sport to recognize and reach their potential. Supported by MLSE’s professional sports teams- the Toronto Maple Leafs , Toronto Raptors , Toronto Argonauts and Toronto FC, it is the first facility of its kind in North America. As a collaborative space promoting social change by leveraging sport, education and research, our programming is focused on four pillars: Healthy Body, Healthy Mind, Ready for School and Ready for Work. What’s great about this job:
As the Coordinator, Sport Programming you will be at the centre of the action: managing a diverse and dynamic team of 80 hourly staff, creating sport programs, and working with the research and partnerships teams to ensure that our programming is having the intended impact.
You will be working on an energetic and active Sport Programming Team. This team prides itself on creating the absolute best experience for the youth within our space, and puts our “Youth First, Always ” value at the core of its work. The Sport Programming Team is p assionate about the community, supporting our hourly staff, the impact of sport, and we love to collaborate, learn and grow in the fun, fast-paced and inclusive environment of MLSE LaunchPad .
What you’ll be doing :
- Lead a team of 50+ diverse and dynamic hourly staff : you will coach our Supervisors, Youth Mentors, Lead Coaches, and Assistant Coaches to ensure that everyone is aware of their roles, our emergency procedures, and that they are supported, both personally and professionally. This is a core competency of the job and also includes scheduling and payroll.
- Measur e key outcomes to support MLSE LaunchPad program refinement and growth : y ou will work with the Measurement and Evaluation Team to make sure that our programs are informed by research and that we are programming to meet our goals and outcomes. Future programs will be guided by the feedback and data collected.
- Participat e in special projects and other related duties as required : w e are one big team and support each other on projects, proposals and events. Everything is “our job ”.
- Champion our core values : a s someone who oversees staff and programming, you set the tone for the space and the people in it. Knowing and living our core values is a key component of this job.
- Lead the development and updating of MLSE LaunchPad Sport For Development programs : y ou will be a key player in ensuring that all of our program ming focus es on physical literacy, life skills and FUN!
- Oversee the execution of in-person MLSE LaunchPad programs : b eing physically in the spa ce is a big component of the role so that you can coach and support hourly staff and liaise with the full-time team. This includes s etting up MLSE LaunchPad programs for success by informing and executing the training and onboarding process for all hourly staff .
- Collaborat e on the planning and execution of spec ial events : y ou will work cross-team to make sure that our events are well-staffed, supported, and run smoothly from start to finish. This generally includes overseeing a sport programming component and staffing the event.
You’re a great fit for this job if:
- You have experience supervising staff : o ur hourly staff team is at the core of everything that we do and their sense of belonging, buy-in, happiness, and wellbeing is so important. Making them a priority is your priority.
- You have experience managing a budget.
- You have experience creating youth Sport For Development programming, an understanding of physical literacy, fundamental movement skills, and their applicability and importance in a youth sport context .
- You are highly organized and can manage and prioritize competing responsibilities .
- We work in a fast-paced environment with a number of different programs, events and administrative priorities running simultaneously. Being organized and working as a team are key components of your role.
- You are a collaborator : w e are one team and every decision we make impacts someone else . U nderstanding who to bring in and how are important.
- You are a clear, confident and thoughtful communicator . You will be communicating with a number of different staff , stakeholders, youth and parents . How you get information across and understanding the impact that the information you are communicating has on the people you are communicating it to is a key component of your job.
- You care about how inequity in sport continues to impact racialized and marginalized communities, and are committed to breaking down the barriers to youth access in sport .
- You have familiarity with applying anti-oppressive and anti-racist principles to your work and engage in continued learning in these areas.
- You truly believe that the power of sport can change the world .

Job Posting Compensation Range/Rate:
$45,000-55,000 base salary.
