This position is a new vacancy.

The Actuarial Associate will support the VP, Finance Initiatives and Insights in financial reporting and forecasts. This role involves preparing presentations and conducting business performance analytics to provide insights to senior management and collaborating across the organization to meet financial reporting requirements.

In this role you will:

  • Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including forecasts and variance analysis; prepare presentations and reports for management review
  • Perform detailed drivers of earnings variance analysis versus plan, forecast, and prior periods, identifying key drivers and emerging trends
  • Assist in preparing financial information and analytics for external communication as required
  • Assist in preparing annual financial plan by coordinating inputs across various teams, analysing results and preparing final reports and board presentations
  • Gather and analyze financial and non-financial data to support business decisions
  • Support scenario and sensitivity analysis to assess financial impacts of business and economic changes
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and support the implementation of financial tools, models and systems
  • Support various ad-hoc projects and strategic initiatives as needed

What we pay...

$83,500 - $115,000

What we are looking for…

  • University degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related area
  • Minimum of 3+ years relevant experience in the life insurance industry
  • Knowledge of individual life and annuity products; experience in reinsurance would be an asset
  • Knowledge and experience with accounting and regulatory capital frameworks including IFRS 17 and LICAT
  • Strong knowledge of Excel. Experience in Workiva, AXIS and programming tools (e.g. SQL, Python, R) would be an asset
