Assistant Terminal Manager
Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000
Location: Port - Prince Rupert

As the Assistant Terminal Manager, you play a crucial role in supporting the Terminal Manager to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the Westview Port Terminal. This leadership position requires you to be energetic and resourceful, with strong managerial skills.
In this role, you will leverage your knowledge of federal regulatory requirements related to port operations to assess, document, and implement continuous improvements.

Your Day-to-Day as an Assistant Terminal Manager, You’ll:
- In partnership with the Terminal Manager, you will provide daily operational updates to the foreman, assist with dispatch and shift planning, and monitor quality control for goods at the Port.
- Collaborate with leadership to address systematic challenges and support incident investigations, performing root cause analysis as needed.
- Responsible for producing weekly rail recaps, maintaining statistical data on operations, and preparing the daily vessel report for key stakeholders.
- Manage safety training, conduct monthly safety tours, and maintain records for compliance with regulations.
- Develop and expand resources for Job Safety Analyses and Standard Operating Procedures.
- lead staff development to maintain a productive workplace.
What you’ll bring:
To excel in this vital role, you’ll need:

Post-secondary education in operations, engineering, maintenance, or a related field.

Five years of experience in port and shipping, with a solid understanding of management in a federally regulated industry.

Supervisory experience in a unionized work environment.
-
Experience supporting a safety program in a safety-sensitive environment is an asset.
-
Strong organizational and time management skills.
-
Ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with all teams, along with effective communication across the organization.
-
Technical capability, leadership skills, teamwork orientation, as well as problem-solving and analytical skills.
-
Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time.

Proficient in all Microsoft applications.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Ability to quickly assess situations and develop plans for resolution.
