Compensation Range: $39/hr to $50/hr
Our client, a leader in financial services, a TOP 5 bank located in Toronto, is looking for a Bilingual Content Editor.
As a Bilingual Content Editor, you’re responsible for coordinating translations from external agencies, and reviewing, editing and proofreading marketing content for the client's website, our mobile apps, online banking, and other digital platforms. You’ll review and edit English-to-French translations for accuracy, consistency, tone, typography and grammar. Occasionally, you’ll also translate copy directly.
You’ll spend most of your time working within an Agile marketing framework to deliver accurate and concise French content. You’ll regularly contribute to the French editorial process by helping create and maintain French editorial standards, ensuring we produce fully optimized copy while maintaining a consistent voice and tone. You’ll also use SEO tactics (developed by the Digital team) to drive traffic, and accessibility best practices to ensure our pages are inclusive for all users.
We’re looking for someone who’s detail-oriented, able to meet tight deadlines and has exceptional interpersonal skills. If you’re a self-motivated professional with experience in translation, editing and content management, we want to hear from you.
The main function of the Translator is to translate written or spoken materials from one language to another.
Key Accountabilities
- Proficient in native French: You bring extensive knowledge of the French language that’s backed by a degree in translation or equivalent work experience. You have strong terminology research skills, awareness of French-Canadian nuances and good working knowledge of translation software such as Trados, MemoQ and Antidote, terminology databases such Termium, as well as Office Québécois de la langue Française (OQLF) standards.
- Maintain French alignment: You proofread and edit new content, ensuring accuracy and adherence to editorial standards as well as thos of the OQLF. You pride yourself in ensuring content from vendors, clients and external partners is accurate and meets organizational standards and best practices.
- Effectively manage translation: You’re highly detail and process-oriented. You manage translation requests in a timely and cost-effective manner, working cooperatively with our partners and vendors.
- Take initiative: You’re comfortable juggling multiple priorities with tight deadlines. You proactively resolve the complexities and ambiguities that arise on projects. You use your excellent communication, consultation and interpersonal skills to champion the French translation discipline and its nuances.
Must haves:
- 5–10 years of experience in editorial and translation roles within structured environments.
- Extensive experience as a French content editor, overseeing digital marketing or public-facing content.
- Degree in Translation with strong English and native French language proficiency.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, Effective Client Relationship Management Skills
- Awareness of French Canadian linguistic and cultural specificities (does not need to be from Quebec but must have experience with French Canadian content).
- Experience coordinating translation projects rather than performing translations directly; familiarity with how translation agencies operate.
- Working knowledge of Trados Studio, MemoQ, and CAT tools.
- Knowledgeable of OQLF standards.
- Internet savvy and skilled in the use of Termium, Le GDT, Antidote and Terminology databases
- Experience in a digital marketing environment.
