Trinity Consultants Canada’s Water & Ecology team delivers environmental and scientific expertise for simple to complex projects across Canada. WONDERING WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?

Your role will require you to bring a high standard of technical excellence to your daily work. Main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide intermediate-level technical skills and leadership within our water resources group, specifically with water balance and hydrodynamic modelling tasks for mining projects.
  • Maintain key client relationships and support growth of the team and business through successful delivery of projects across Canada.
  • Provide water resources engineering/modelling support on water management studies for mining projects (exploration through closure).
  • Develop and run site-wide and receiver water balance models to simulate hydrological processes using industry standard software (e.g., GoldSim, HEC-HMS).
  • Develop and run 2D and 3D hydrodynamic models to simulate contaminant dispersion and mixing zones with industry standard software (e.g., CORMIX, Delft3D).
  • Perform hydrotechnical calculations to support analysis of hydraulic structures including culverts, weirs, flumes, and open-channels using industry standard software (e.g., HY-8, HEC-RAS).
  • Prepare technical reports/memos and present findings to clients, regulators, Indigenous groups, and stakeholders.
  • Support permitting and regulatory documentation/submissions.
  • Contribute to proposal preparation, scope development, and budgeting.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to more junior staff.
  • Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with our technical teams within our business unit.

THE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Eng. or EIT designation, or eligible for registration with PEO.
  • 3+ years of consulting experience related to water resource engineering/modelling in the mining section.
  • Demonstrated experience with water balance modelling (using GoldSim) and hydrodynamic modelling (using CORMIX) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of hydrological processes in temperate climates, hydrodynamics and mixing processes, and hydraulics.
  • Working knowledge of engineering hydrology, rating curve development, water quality modelling, and storm/urban drainage analysis would be an asset.
  • Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, and other supporting tools would be an asset.
  • Effective analytical and technical writing skills with the ability to produce high quality reports and proposals.
  • Experience supporting permitting and regulatory processes in the mining sector.
  • Experience with writing proposals, work scopes, and cost estimates
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality, and excellence.
  • Effective and demonstrated communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, well organized, motivated, and self-managed.

Compensation: $43 - $63 CAD per hour. The posted range reflects wages for a broad scope of experience, with starting pay determined based on education, qualifications, and experiences relevant to the role.
