Position Summary

The Nature Conservancy of Canada is seeking an individual to join the Prairie Development team in the role of Development Officer - Operations. The Development team raises funds for conservation projects and priorities across SK and MB and helps share NCC’s work and achievements with a range of audiences through a variety of storytelling tools.

The Development Officer - Operations will support the team through meeting and event coordination, data management, grant applications and reporting, and other operational duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising

  • Works with conservation and development teams to support grant applications, agreements, and application and reporting deadlines
  • Works with conservation and development teams to develop strategies for funding renewals, always aiming to increase investment and deepen impact
  • Act as development liaison to our funding partners, gathering required information from our conservation team members to support asks and reporting

Meeting and event coordination

  • Coordinate with engagement team on donor and partner events such as land tours, stewardship events, and receptions. This includes pulling invite lists, tracking attendees and follow-up and working with the prospect team to provide attendee profiles
  • Support Director in ensuring follow-up has occured and host post event debrief sessions to capture lessons learned and envolve and enhance events for best outcomes
  • Schedule internal face to face meetings, assist with preparing agendas and resources needed, and booking travel and accommodation as well as social activity
  • Supporting meetings with donors by preparing donor packages and working with attendee schedules.

Data management

  • Generate reports, queries and lists from the Raiser’s Edge database as requested by Development team, including regularized donation and fundraising activity reports.
  • Complete donation tracking forms as requested by finance.
  • Act as the team’s donor stewardship liaison, tracking and distributing thank-you call and reporting lists, preparing and mailing correspondence and helping make thank-you calls as needed.
  • Send monthly reminders to staff about upcoming grant reporting deadlines.
  • Record correspondence and proposals in Raiser’s Edge on behalf of senior management.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates passion for environmental conservation or other mission-driven work through professional or volunteer experience, personal projects, or community involvement.
  • 2-4 years experience in development administration, donor stewardship, or project coordination roles in the non-profit sector
  • Experience using database systems to track and report information. Enthusiasm for learning new technical tools. Experience with Raiser's Edge is an asset.
  • Brings a customer service mindset and professional judgment to producing communications and handling sensitive information in a donor-focused environment.
  • Values collaborative success and brings a supportive approach to working within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrates big-picture thinking and initiative, anticipating team needs and resourcefully addressing new challenges.
