Key
Responsibilities
Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports student learning and well-being Plan and deliver secondary sciences instruction aligned with Alberta curriculum outcomes (e.g., junior high and/or high
school sciences)
Use a variety of instructional strategies to support conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners Integrate technology (e.g., SMART Boards, graphing tools, online platforms) into science instruction Assess and evaluate student progress; maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents Prepare course outlines and lesson plans aligned with curriculum guidelines Maintain strong classroom management and a calm, professional approach in a dynamic environment Collaborate with colleagues and participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school initiatives Build strong relationships with students, parents, staff, and the broader community Contribute positively to a faith-based, culturally diverse school environment
Qualifications
& Requirements
Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or higher from an accredited institution (or equivalent), with a focus or specialization in
Sciences (Chemistry, Biology or Physics) preferred
Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or Interim Professional Certificate
Strong knowledge of secondary sciences curriculum and instructional practices Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Proven classroom management abilities Understanding of current, research-based teaching strategies in sciences education Experience integrating technology into science instruction Commitment to inclusive education and student success Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, growing environment Experience in a faith-based or culturally diverse school setting is an asset
