PHYSIOTHERAPIST (25-0000723)

Status: Full Time TEMPORARY (0.8 FTE)
Department: Geriatric Assessment and Rehabilitative Care (GARC)
Shifts: Days
Rate of Pay: $41.58-$57.99 per hour

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Physiotherapist to join our Frailty Identification and Transition to Geriatric Assessment and Rehabilitative Care Program (FIT Program) at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Emergency Department.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the emergency department with early assessment and identification

  • Decrease the length of stay of older adults in the emergency department

  • Provide timely opportunities to support frail older adults to remain as independent as possible living in the community and potentially delay the need for long-term care

  • Collaborate with an interprofessional team to deliver comprehensive care

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • A degree or equivalent from an accredited Physiotherapy program

  • Current unrestricted registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO)

  • Minimum three years recent clinical experience as a Physiotherapist

  • Experience working with frail, geriatric population required

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to manage a clinical practice in a health care setting

  • Ability to complete analysis, using clinical knowledge, skill and judgement to synthesize assessment information

  • Ability to assess and treat acute and chronic orthopaedic, neurological, geriatric and cardio-respiratory conditions

  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing

  • Ability to work independently, interdependently, and collaboratively within a model of interprofessional care

  • Ability to develop and maintain respectful partnerships

  • Commitment to excellence and leadership in Rehabilitative care

  • Ability to lead inter-professional and inter-organizational collaboration, to facilitate an excellent client care experience

  • Commitment to clinical excellence and use of Best Practices

  • Demonstrated commitment to People-Centred Care approach and principles

  • Ability to demonstrate reflective practice

  • Strong project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to use independent judgment and maintain confidentiality of records, actions, and information

  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Assets:

  • Experience with virtual care technology (i.e. Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN), Webex, etc) is an asset

  • Assistive Devices Program (ADP) authorization is an asset

  • Membership in Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) and Ontario Physiotherapy Association (OPA) are strongly encouraged assets

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • May be required to travel to various work locations and provide own reliable transportation

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
