Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager of Health Information Services, responsible for a diversity of Health Information Services functions including: patient pre-registration, patient registration, bed control, health record culling, death processing, Drug Program Information Network (DPIN) retrieval/Client Registry search, chart management, late report processing, chart assembly, and report generation/dissemination.
Experience
Experience in a Windows environment essential.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
Minimum grade 12 education. Successful completion of the Medical Administrative Assistant Program at Manitoba Institute of Trades & Technology, a recognized medical secretary program or the first year of a recognized diploma/degree in nursing - or - Successful completion of a recognized medical terminology course, PLUS one-year experience in a Patient Registration department or one year related* experience. Experience as a Ward Clerk, Unit Assistant, Secretary or Receptionist in a clinical area is deemed to meet the definition of related.

Accurate typing 45 words per minute.
Physical Requirements
May be required to work extended hours. May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals. Adheres to all safety and health policies, regulations and safe work practices.
This Indefinite Term may expire subject to one (1) weeks’ notice.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden Door Geriatric Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
Interviewed candidates may be called upon to participate in a skills assessment.
