About the role

K-12 Learning Support Services Consultant - Experiential Learning, STEAM and Outdoor Education Focus This K-12 LSS Consultant position is available September 2, 2025. This position will be renewable and receive a responsibility allowance as per the appropriate Collective Agreement.

As a K-12 LSS Consultant, you will lead the coordination, delivery, and system support of Experiential Learning (EL), Outdoor Education (OE), and Science Technology Engineering Arts Math (STEAM) programming across all grade levels. This dynamic role includes working directly with students to provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences, while also collaborating with educators and community partners to enhance experiential learning across the system.

Key Responsibilities Under the direction of the Superintendent of Education, the K-12 LSS Consultant will:

  • Work directly with students in all divisions to provide meaningful, hands-on outdoor education, experiential learning, and STEAM opportunities in alignment with curriculum expectations.
  • Coordinate and deliver student experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and real-world connections through outdoor learning, robotics and STEAM.
  • Collaborate with system leaders to develop and implement a plan to ensure students across the system have access to diverse and engaging EL/OE/STEAM experiences.
  • Establish and sustain partnerships with community organizations, industry leaders, and external agencies to enhance experiential learning opportunities.
  • Support schools and educators in designing, implementing, and evaluating high-quality EL/OE/Robotics/STEAM initiatives aligned with curriculum expectations.
  • Provide job-embedded professional development and co-learning opportunities for educators to build capacity in EL, OE, and robotics integration, with a focus on deepening understanding and application of curriculum expectations.
  • Lead and facilitate system-wide professional learning sessions that model best practices in EL/OE/Robotics/STEAM and reflect a strong Catholic worldview.
  • Work collaboratively with other Learning Support Services staff to embed experiential learning opportunities within various curriculum portfolios.
  • Provide mentorship and support to new educators as part of the New Teacher Induction Program (NTIP).
  • Support board-wide equity and inclusive education initiatives, ensuring all students have access to high-impact, relevant learning experiences.
  • Promote innovation, inquiry, and excellence in teaching and learning through the intentional use of experiential and technological learning strategies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support system-wide learning goals.

Qualifications

  • Must be qualified in at least three (3) of the four (4) divisions.
  • Must possess a Specialist in an area related to this assignment.

Other Requirements

  • Knowledge of outdoor education, experiential learning, and robotics, including innovative instructional approaches, assessment, and evaluation practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage, inspire, and build strong relationships.
  • Ability to develop and sustain partnerships with schools, community agencies, and industry to co-create learning opportunities.
  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of Ministry initiatives and directives.
  • Proven leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to influence and motivate teams, resolve conflicts, and foster enthusiasm for progressive change.
  • Experience in planning, facilitating, and delivering professional learning for educators.
  • Strong understanding and application of differentiated instruction (DI) and universal design for learning (UDL).
  • Excellent collaboration, coordination, coaching, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in integrating technology to enhance teaching, learning, and professional development.
  • Deep understanding of the provincial curriculum, cross-curricular connections and their impact on student learning.
  • Proven ability to model and promote faith-based approaches to curriculum delivery aligned with Catholic education values.
  • Experience leading school- or board-level initiatives is an asset.
  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and adaptability in responding to evolving educational needs.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel as required.
