About the role

Position Summary:

The Senior Analyst, Financial Reporting and Controls is an integral member of the CareRx Finance team, primarily focused on supporting the Company’s financial reporting process. This role also provides support for internal controls activities, including the NI 52-109 program.

You will work collaboratively with other team members, including General Accounting, Commercial Finance, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Business Planning and Analysis, to gain an understanding of financial reporting processes and related internal controls. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, critical thinking, and strong communication skills.

Your Day to Day:

Under the direction of the Director, Finance, you will:

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Draft and review key sections of the Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), ensuring clear, consistent, and well-supported financial disclosures.
  • Perform month-end and quarter-end reporting activities, including detailed variance analysis and Corporate P&L reviews, to support financial statement preparation and explain period-over-period results.
  • Review and interpret legal and transactional documentation to assess and recommend appropriate accounting treatment for non-recurring and complex transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, debt restructurings, contingent considerations, and equity transactions.
  • Research accounting issues and prepare technical accounting analyses and formal accounting memoranda to document accounting conclusions and support judgment-based decisions.
  • Coordinate, compile, and analyze supporting schedules and documentation required for quarterly reviews and the annual audit, acting as a key liaison with external auditors.
  • Enhance the quality, robustness, and usability of financial reports and models, while proactively identifying opportunities to streamline reporting processes and improve efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Business Planning & Analysis (BP&A) and other Finance teams to ensure alignment between financial reporting, forecasting, and business insights.
  • Respond to external auditor requests and inquiries, including the preparation and review of audit support.
  • Support ad hoc analyses, special projects, and other financial reporting initiatives as required.

Internal Controls

  • Support the planning, scoping, and execution of the Company’s NI-52-109 internal controls program.

  • Assist in maintaining internal control documentation, including risk and control matrices, process documentation, and related materials.

  • Participate in walkthroughs and testing of key controls, including documentation of results and conclusions on design and operating effectiveness.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external service providers, as required, and provide status updates on testing activities and remediation efforts.

  • Support updates to policies, procedures, and sub-certification documentation related to NI-52-109 compliance.

  • Promote a strong internal control environment within the Finance function and support periodic inventory counts and limited travel, as required.

What You Bring To The Team:

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA) or actively working toward completion.
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or industry, with a strong foundation in financial reporting, technical accounting, and financial analysis; exposure to internal controls is required.
  • Prior experience with internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR), including involvement in documentation, walkthroughs, testing, and remediation activities, is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls frameworks and internal audit practices, with the ability to apply controls concepts pragmatically within a financial reporting environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial accounting and IFRS, including the ability to research, interpret, and apply accounting standards to complex or non-routine transactions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate accounting positions and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized, results-oriented, and comfortable exercising professional judgment while managing multiple priorities and meeting tight reporting deadlines.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, and analytical tools to support financial reporting and analysis.
  • Experience working with accounting and financial reporting systems; demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems, tools, and processes.

**Location:**320 Bay Street, Toronto, Ontario 2 days a week in office
