The hourly rate for this role is $48.05 per hour. Base hourly rates are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate’s experience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.

Position Summary In this hands-on maintenance position, the successful candidate will apply their technical abilities to maintain equipment across a wide variety of manufacturing and production assets. Applicants must be a fully qualified as a Journeyman Industrial Electrician (442A) and capable of diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, constructing, assembling, calibrating, installing and maintaining all types of electrical and electronic high or low voltage circuitry systems and equipment. Recent and relevant experience in troubleshooting and programing PLC’s is required including modifying PLC programs, and HMI applications is an Allen Bradley/Rockwell programming environment. Further, the successful candidate must have the ability to program and calibrate field control devices such as servo drives, and VFD’s, barcode readers, vision systems, inkjet and laser printers. As a member of the maintenance team, you will be expected to work in a team environment, which includes being self-motivated, accepting responsibilities, completing assigned action items, and participating in a proactive manner in all team events as well as making daily contributions towards our goal of becoming a world class maintenance (WCM) operation.

Key Responsibilities This role is responsible for a variety of tasks which ensure the efficiency and reliability of all Company equipment and processes including:

Safety Requirements

  • Apply lock out tag out (LOTO) and deenergizing procedures
  • Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment
  • Practice safe work habits in accordance with HWSL policies and best practices for safety and housekeeping standards
  • Ability to perform tasks according to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Wear all required PPE and clothing
  • Apply fire-prevention techniques and work under hot-work permits where required

Troubleshooting, Diagnosing and Repairs

  • Must have the ability to program and calibrate field control devices such as servo drives, and VFD’s, barcode readers, vision systems, inkjet and laser printers
  • Diagnose, adjust, repair, construct, assemble, calibrate, install and maintain all types of electrical and electronic high or low voltage circuitry systems and equipment
  • Experience working in a machine tool environment with a focus on commissioning, and debug would also be an asset
  • Knowledge and experience programming industrial robots would be considered a asset.

Automation And PLC Requirements

  • Must have the ability to trouble-shoot PLC’s, understand ladder logic, and must have the ability to program PLC’s , read and interpret blueprints and electrical drawings. Experience working with European drawing standards would be considered an asset. Recent experience trouble-shooting and making modifications to PLC programs, and HMI applications is an Allen Bradley/Rockwell programming environment.
  • Executing break-fix (reactive) work orders in addition to planned work

General

  • Other related duties as required

Predictive (PdM) and Preventative Maintenance (PM)

  • Produce high quality outcomes from executing preventative maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs
  • Contribute and drive improvements to PdM and PM programs
  • Effectively use Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs – JDE/CAM/E1
  • Complete vibration and ultrasonic testing
  • Complete oil sampling

  • Ability to work with computers, tablets and other technologies for documentation purposes

  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively under conditions of frequent interruptions and/or distractions

  • Continuous learning mindset

  • Think analytically and solve problems and/or troubleshoot

  • Proven ability to lead co-workers and contractors

  • Willingness to report to work for emergency call-ins with no prior notice

  • Willingness to work in a variety of work environments (i.e. cold, hot/humid, wet, etc.)

  • Willingness to work shift work and overtime on afternoon, night and weekend shifts

  • Ability to satisfy both the known and unknown requirements of key customers of the maintenance group

  • Desire to exceed the customer’s expectations

  • Strong written/oral comprehension and communication skills

  • Must have the physical capabilities to:

  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Must be able to walk/stand for entire shift

  • Must be able to stoop

  • Must be able to occasionally work in cramped or uncomfortable positions

  • Must be able to use hands at competitive speeds with regards to dexterity fingering and handling

  • Must be able to climb ladders

  • A valid Ontario “G” Drivers License

Education & Experience Fully qualified as a Journeyperson Industrial Electrician (442A) or Journeyperson Construction & Maintenance Electrician (309A) recognized by and in good standing with the Ontario College of Trades. The successful applicant will have related work experience as an Industrial Electrician or Construction & Maintenance Electrician within the last 5 years.
