Scope of Position:

Prepare data and reports for the Category Management Team to effectively assist in the management of the lifecycle of Vendors and Products that Vallen offers. Assist with the determination of category strategy, direction and road map, ensuring alignment with Supply Chain Strategy. Data mine to ensure we are representing the right Vendors and Products that support Vallen's Sales Strategy in the most profitable way. Assist in line and vendors reviews. Assist the Category Managers to drive cross functional execution of documented Category Plans and is responsible to drive vendor net profitability ensuring Vallen's Business continuity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide data and analytics to assist with the Category Strategy development and execution.
  • Assist with the Development of strategic planning with collaboration from Sales, Supply Chain, Pricing & Contracts and Operations.
  • Report out to business on market and customer/vendor insights.
  • Report on current business state by category.
  • Assist with product transitions, launches and vendor returns.
  • Work with the Sales Team to transition non-core vendors to core vendors (managing tail spend).
  • Facilitate promotional programs, product transitions, launches and vendor returns.
  • Field vendor related questions from the business and vendor community.
  • Prepare and provide analysis on Vendor Scorecards and resolve issues identified through this process (e.g. turns, fill rates, delivery, etc.).
  • Identify product gaps in products categories.
  • Attend and report on pertinent Industry Trade Shows.
  • Provide Vendor Insight and Direction to Sales.
  • Assist with hosting of Vendor Top to Top meetings.
  • Read, understand, and follow Vallen's health, safety, and environment policies and all applicable OH&S legislation/regulations.
  • Actively participate in Vallen's health and safety management system, including training, audits, assessments, safety meetings, and inspections.
  • Identify, control, and report workplace hazards including following WHMIS/TDG requirements and reporting near misses.
  • Report workplace injuries immediately and participate in any return-to-work programs or requirements.
  • Be fit for duty and physically capable of performing all required tasks.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • College/University Diploma (Supply Chain, Logistics or Business preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office required (Outlook, Word, Excel).High School Diploma required.
  • Previous Category Management experience preferred.
  • Previous Vendor Evaluation experience preferred.
  • Vendor Management experience preferred.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Previous cost analysis experience preferred.
  • Ability to quickly build strong, professional relationships.
  • Excellent present
