The Role
GFL Environmental is hiring an Operations & Safety Coordinator for the Cranbrook branch. This role supports the General Manager, Operations Manager, Sales/Dispatch Manager, and Dispatch team by ensuring safety programs, training, and operational systems run smoothly and remain compliant.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead branch safety and operations projects assigned by leadership
- Manage employee training, certifications, and compliance tracking
- Train drivers on tablets and Digital DVIRs
- Support implementation of safety programs, ride-alongs, and observations
- Monitor telematics systems (Lytx, Geotab) to support driver coaching
- Coordinate First Aid, fit testing, hearing tests, asbestos, and forklift training
- Maintain driver records, training matrices, and compliance documentation
- Assist with site inspections, JHSC activities, and WCB/Return-to-Work administration
What You Bring
- Strong organization and project management skills
- Ability to train and support drivers with technology and safety processes
- Proactive approach to compliance and training management
- Experience with fleet/safety systems (SEMS, Geotab, Lytx) is an asset
- Valid driver’s license (Class 1 or 3 with Air Brakes preferred)
