About the role

As an Electrical-Mechanical Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering the training programs developed by the Electrical-Mechanical Practice Manager for employees in the production electrical department, with the aim of supporting them in developing their technical and practical skills.

More specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering training on theoretical and practical topics in electrical and mechanical engineering, all within the context of a shipyard undergoing significant transformation and expansion.

  • Assessing workers’ skill acquisition through theoretical and/or practical tests.

  • Helping to update theoretical and practical training content.

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure continuity and the transfer of skills in the field.

  • Stay abreast of technical and pedagogical developments in your area of expertise.

  • Certify workers’ skills according to current standards.

  • Maintain an inclusive and safe training environment.

  • Manage the logistics of the various training stages.

  • Manage the logistics for the various stages of training.

  • Perform administrative tasks related to training activities, such as managing attendance lists, maintaining employee records, preparing and issuing competency cards, ordering appropriate training materials, entering post-training data into the system, etc.

  • DEP in Construction or Maintenance Electrical Technology or Electromechanical Systems OR;

  • DEC in Electrodynamics, Instrumentation and Control, or Industrial Electronics/Mechanics;

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a trainer;

  • Possession of a CCQ Journeyman’s Card or Certificate of Competence in Electrical Work / Class C License (an asset);

  • Completion of one or more training programs in the field of marine electrical systems (IEEE 45, TP127, etc.) (an asset).
