THE ROLE:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Analyst, Reporting and Master Data to grow their career within the Master Data Management team in Financial Reporting at PETRONAS Canada. The position is based in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Team Lead, Master Data Management, the successful candidate will play a key role in advancing our master data initiatives in SAP.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

  • Drive business adoption and effective utilization of SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)
  • Implement reporting solutions for end users, including creating stories and forecasts in SAC and other enterprise reporting tools.
  • Champion reporting initiatives that position Finance as a best-in-class value-add function for the Company.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation across the MDM and Finance Reporting functions. Provide solutions to drive operational efficiency.
  • Maintain and improve governance documentation and use guides for the MDM department
  • Lead discussions with business stakeholders on WBS Design, Project TECO and Project close
  • Review, support, and maintain WBS elements in SAP
  • Oversee cost center setup and maintenance in SAP
  • Assist with NOA’s, amalgamations, and A&D activity in SAP
  • Collaborate with the business to coordinate, maintain, and update distributions and hierarchies in SAP
  • Execute month end processes including settlement, distributions, overhead, and cutback
  • Perform ongoing reviews and maintenance of Joint Ventures and Joint Operating Agreements
  • Monitor master data quality to identify and resolve anomalies
  • Support testing activities in SAP as required
  • Examine and maintain Business Partners and payment details

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • The successful candidate will possess a degree in Commerce, Accounting, or a related field combined with 7+ years of master data and accounting experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Systems-minded accountant with a passion for leveraging technology and process optimization to drive efficiency and accuracy across the Finance function
  • Demonstrated ownership of assigned tasks, with a track record of seeing projects through to completion and proactively addressing challenges as they arise
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions independently
  • Comfortable operating and succeeding in ambiguous or rapidly changing environments, adapting quickly and maintaining focus on objectives
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across multiple stakeholder groups, fostering collaboration and open communication
  • Brings a “can do”, “figure it out” attitude—resourceful, resilient, and motivated to overcome obstacles without waiting for step-by-step instructions
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to engage business stakeholders on reporting and master data requirements, provide recommendations and implement solutions
  • Excellent understanding of oil and gas operations and Joint Venture accounting
  • Advanced Excel skills with demonstrated ability to manage, analyze and coordinate large volumes of data
  • Strong knowledge of data governance principles and data quality management practices
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage projects and meet deadlines
