Position Description:

The Manager, Cloud Infrastructure Services is accountable for the secure operation, integration, technical architecture, and continuous advancement of George Brown College’s enterprise infrastructure platforms, which collectively support thousands of students, faculty, and staff. This includes Microsoft 365, endpoint computing infrastructure (Windows and Mac), SharePoint, Azure, AWS, authentication systems, and the College’s underlying identity and access management (IAM) systems. The role is critical to ensuring that academic, administrative, and digital services remain reliable, secure, and aligned with institutional strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Digital Platforms and Cloud Management
    • Lead secure integration, optimization, and lifecycle management of Microsoft 365 (M365), SharePoint, Azure, AWS, and IAM platforms.
    • Oversee the migration from legacy identity solution to Microsoft Entra ID, including role mapping, federation, deprovisioning, and secure cutover planning.
    • Implement lifecycle automation, federation, SSO, and governance practices across IAM and platform services.
  • Advisory, Architecture, Design, and Strategic Alignment
    • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to academic, administrative, and IT stakeholders regarding the platforms under their purview.
    • Provide input into projects and initiatives to ensure IAM and security controls are integrated at the design stage.
  • Project and Service Delivery
    • Manage platform projects, including cloud migrations, IAM transitions, mobile device management (MDM), and integrations.
    • Ensure projects are executed with minimal service disruption and measurable improvements.
    • Responsible for leading the migration from legacy IAM systems (legacy identity systems) to modern Microsoft Entra ID solutions, ensuring business continuity, regulatory compliance, and improved user experience. The role also provides leadership in setting up and maintaining privileged identity and access management (PIM/PAM) and supports Cyber Security controls to protect institutional data and digital services.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Supervise engineers and SMEs across, IAM, cloud, email, and M365.
    • Define objectives, review performance, and coach staff for professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Four-year degree from a recognized post-secondary institute in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, Cyber Security, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate, ITIL 4 Managing Professional (MP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), AWS Certified Security – Specialty (Optional), TOGAF, or similar.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive IT experience, including IAM, cloud, and enterprise platform management.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of M365 experience is a requirement.
  • At least three (3) years in supervisory or technical leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing Microsoft Intune or equivalent enterprise mobile device and endpoint management platforms.
  • Experience overseeing application virtualization or virtual desktop services, including vendor engagement, solution evaluation, and support delivery models.
  • Hands-on experience with PIM/PAM solutions.
  • Experience in cloud migrations, platform modernization, and compliance audits is considered an asset.
  • Higher education or public-sector experience is considered an asset.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong technical knowledge of identity protocols (SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, Kerberos, LDAP, ADFS).
  • Familiarity with COBIT, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST SP 800-63B, FIPPA, and Bill 194 compliance.
  • Project management and ITIL service management practices.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Intune administration, endpoint security/hardening, and mobile device management (MDM).
  • Expert knowledge of Windows and Apple operating systems.
  • Solid stakeholder engagement, advisory, and communication skills.
  • Broad leadership skills managing a diverse team of experienced individuals.
  • Excellent collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.
