The Manitoba government is seeking a highly motivated Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic to work in Brandon.

This position offers reliable and full time employment with a defined pension plan. Duties:

The incumbent is responsible to inspect, service, maintain, repair, decommission and install residential, commercial and institutional heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration units and systems and related equipment at owned & leased facilities within District 3 to ensure maximum efficiency, client comfort and effective energy management.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience operating and maintaining HVAC systems in a large commercial, industrial and/or institutional facility.

  • Experience working with Manitoba codes and regulations.

  • Knowledge of WHMIS, Workplace Safety and Health Act, and safe work procedures.

  • Ability to plan and make effective work-related decisions.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and the general public.

  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), Building Automated Systems(BAS) or Direct Digital Control (DDC) controlled mechanical systems.

Desired:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Must possess a valid Interprovincial Journeyperson Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic

  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector check, Adult and Child Abuse Registry and Enhanced Security Screening

  • Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers License and be capable of travel with overnight stays within the District as needed

  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including work at heights, heavy lifting, crouching, bending, working alone, in restricted areas, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, outdoors, exposure to chemicals, dusty air, noise levels, and be capable of wearing personal protective equipment including a respirator
