Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Technician to join our team in Atlantic Canada.
Your Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with our geotechnical engineers and other technicians on Stantec projects located throughout Eastern Canada. Primary assignments would include working on construction phases of projects, providing full-time QA/QC services to monitor and confirm compliance with our geotechnical designs. This position requires pre-access drug and alcohol screening and a criminal background check.
General duties consisting of both field and laboratory work to supplement gaps in construction supervision due to seasonal or temporary shutdowns. Activities could include the following:
- Coordination and supervision of drilling and test pitting programs for a variety of small to large projects spanning from infrastructure, residential, commercial, and industrial developments
- Geotechnical field testing, such as rock anchor testing; observation of pile installation, piezometer installation and measurements; slope stability monitoring using inclinometers, downhole thermistor installation, etc.
- Construction quality control/quality assurance and preparation of quality documents
Coordination for and assistance with field and laboratory testing of soils/concrete/asphalt
- Mentoring, coaching, and training of technical staff as required
- Assistance with proposal and report preparation in the office
- Other general field and office-related duties
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Team player with a commitment to client service.
- Experience working with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrate initiative and ability to multitask.
- A valid Driver's License is required.
- Completion of a two- or three-year college program in civil engineering technology would be an asset.
- Ability and willingness to work away from home for upwards of 16 consecutive days (ie. two week turnaround schedules + travel to and from the site).
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
Education and Experience
Technical diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 10 - 15 years of experience working in and around construction
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.

Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
